In 2001, LEGO released two Jurassic Park III sets as part of its LEGO Studios theme. These sets were tied to the movie but framed within the context of a movie-making studio, allowing builders to recreate dinosaur attack scenes as if they were filming the movie itself. Instead of directly incorporating characters from Jurassic Park III, the sets featured generic minifigures and characters from LEGO’s Adventurers line.
The Spinosaurus Attack Studio (1371) contained 186 pieces and featured a large Spinosaurus, a key dinosaur from Jurassic Park III, along with a stuntman minifigure, a cameraman, and props such as a tree and a boat. Released in May 2001, the set was designed to simulate a movie scene with the Spinosaurus attacking.
The Jurassic Park III LEGO sets were part of LEGO’s broader Studios line, which integrated cinematic themes with LEGO play, allowing fans to both build and “film” their own action scenes using LEGO figures and a real camera. Despite only two main sets being released, they remain an interesting part of Jurassic Park III’s merchandising history.
