Koosh toys, first created in 1987 by engineer Scott Stillinger, are rubber balls made from a soft, stretchy rubber filament, providing a unique tactile experience. The toy was designed to be easy to catch and throw, making it appealing to children and adults alike. Koosh balls became a hit due to their simplicity, durability, and distinct look. Their popularity led to numerous variations and tie-ins with major franchises.
One notable collaboration was with The Lost World: Jurassic Park, when Koosh released a series of dinosaur-themed toys in 1997. These toys featured Koosh’s signature rubber strands, but shaped to represent different dinosaurs from the Jurassic Park universe. This line was part of the larger merchandising push for the film, providing a playful and tactile way for kids to engage with Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus, Triceratops and Velociraptor in Koosh form.
