Produced by Craft House Corporation, the Jurassic Park Magic Rocks: Brachiosaurus kit was part of a short-lived series of themed “growing crystal” sets released alongside the 1993 film’s merchandising campaign. Each kit allowed users to create a miniature prehistoric scene using chemical crystal growth, a popular science-toy concept from the 1980s and 1990s.
The set included a clear plastic display tank, a molded plastic figure of a Brachiosaurus, packets of “Magic Rocks” crystals and “Magic Solution,” and a simple paint set for decorating the figure. When the crystals were placed in the solution, they would rapidly “grow” underwater, forming colorful mineral-like formations around the dinosaur figure and base, creating a simulated underwater diorama.
