When Tradition Meets Jurassic Fandom

If you’re a fan of unique collectibles, France’s (and many other countries) tradition of fèves—miniature porcelain figurines hidden in celebratory king cakes—might just blow your mind. These tiny treasures have been a staple of Epiphany celebrations for centuries, delighting those lucky enough to find one in their slice of galette des rois. Over time, fèves have evolved from simple porcelain beans to detailed figures representing pop culture phenomena, including some dino-sized surprises for Jurassic Park fans.

Our collection proudly features fève sets inspired by The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, and Jurassic World, as well as a standout jumbo fève of Velociraptor Blue from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, all produced by French fèves producer Arguydal. Let’s dig into these miniature marvels, one movie at a time.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park Fèves. The Lost World fèves feature an exciting array of dinosaurs from the second installment of the Jurassic Park franchise. These figurines capture the ferocity of the T-Rex, the sleek menace of the Velociraptors, and the towering majesty of the Mamenchisaurus (misspelled on the fève itself). Each fève is painted with careful detail, bringing these prehistoric predators to life on a scale small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

Jurassic Park III Fèves. This set leans into the adventure and chaos of Jurassic Park III. Standout fèves include the Spinosaurus, the terrifying apex predator of the film, and the ever-popular Velociraptors, with their distinctive crests from this movie. Other figurines feature key moments and themes, making this set a snapshot of the high-stakes survival drama that defined the third film.

Jurassic World Fèves. The Jurassic World fève set dives into the modern era of the franchise. Among the highlights are Tyrannosaurus Rex and the fan-favorite Mosasaurus. Oddly enough the main villain of the film, the Indominus Rex, was not part of the lineup. The set however does include a vehicle and park rangers, adding variety to the collection.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom fève. Only one fève was produced for the sequel to Jurassic World: a representation of Velociraptor “Blue”. Standing out from the typical fève size, this larger-than-life porcelain figurine captures Blue’s likeness, making it a fun tribute to the most iconic raptor in the franchise.

Epiphany crown. Adding to the charm of our collection is a cardboard crown adorned with images of the Jurassic Park III fèves. Traditionally paired with the galette des rois, this crown is meant to be worn by whoever finds the fève in their slice, symbolizing their role as “king” or “queen” for the day. This playful connection to January 6th, or Epiphany, ties the Jurassic Park III fèves to the timeless joy of celebration, blending traditional customs with the thrilling world of dinosaurs. It’s a delightful reminder of how traditions can evolve while still bringing people together.

These fèves not only connect fans to the Jurassic franchise in an unexpected way but also highlight how global culture can mix with beloved local traditions. Whether you’re a fève collector, a Jurassic Park aficionado, or just intrigued by the idea of finding a dinosaur in your dessert, these sets are a must-see.

Have you ever found a dinosaur fève in your galette des rois? If not, maybe it’s time to start hunting!
