Extreme Damage Allosaurus review

Posted on Leave a comment

Three Extreme Damage dinosaurs were released last month as part of Mattel’s Jurassic World Dominion toy line. These dinosaurs featured the new Extreme Damage effect that can be triggered by pushing a button on the back of the dinosaur. The permanent scratches on both of its sides will then turn red. For the Roarin’ Allosaurus, Mattel opted to go for the “sliding hatch” effect they first introduced with their Battle Damage line in 2018. Pushing down the “hatch” will show its rib cage that can be lifted up and reveal soft tissue beneath. Check out a quick video review of…

Relic from the past…

Last month I went for a Jurassic World Dominion toy hunt recently at a nearby toy shop. While they didn’t have that much toys from Mattel’s new toy line, I did manage to find something quite particular. Hidden behind the Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Extreme Damage T-Rex, there was a toy figure that will make many Jurassic fans shudder by just the looks at it. Hasbro has been releasing the Jurassic toys since 1993, starting with the original Jurassic Park film through their Kenner branch which they took over in 1991. The Kenner line is still being praised today for…

Since the release of the first Jurassic Park movie, Barbasol and the Jurassic Universe are intertwined forever. Dennis Nedry tried to smuggle dinosaur embryos in a modified Barbasol can out of the Jurassic Park laboratory. After getting a run in with a Dilophosaurus, tthere was no happy end for Nedry’s story arc. The Barbasol can disappeared under a thick layer of mud while the Spitter divoured the InGen computer programmer. Now almost 30 years later, THAT Barbasol can resurfaced in stores with a special edition release among other designs inspired by Jurassic World. https://www.instagram.com/p/CdK–Brq9i_/ This is the third time that…

The lost art of card backs

Posted on 3 Comments

The eighties were a much different time, especially for the toy industry.  The companies back then were much less subtle about cross selling their products. The He-Man, Transformers, G.I. Joe, My Little Pony and many other toy lines were all tied to a cartoon show with the purpose to push toy sales. In the early nineties things were changing  to make it less obvious, because of complaints by parents and child advocacy groups. But that didn’t stop the major toy companies from influencing children to buy more of their licensed toys. Miniature toy catalogs were often included in larger play…

The Lost World: Jurassic Park lunchbox

Check out this cute little lunchbox. It was a free giveaway when you purchased biscuits from the Belgian company LU in 1997.  The bright green plastic box features an image of the young T-Rex and the very time-period The Lost World styling and typography. I remember seeing this lunch box all over the place during lunch at school. But unfortunately, many had the print faded or nearly gone as it turned out it was not dishwasher save. I never used mine for food, and kept it nice and tidy in my collection room… Hope you liked his post! Did you…
