Jurassic World Dino Hybrid Dilophosaurus Rex

Jurassic World Dino Hybrid Dilophosaurus Rex

Hands down the Dilophosaurus Rex is Hasbro’s weirdest Jurassic Park-themed toy EVER. If you thought the T-rex from the “Bashers and Biters” line was awful, well take a look at this monstrosity. Is there anything good about this figure? I guess not, it has a terrible sculpt, jerky action, and a horrible, horrible paint job. What’s up with the shiny gold Hasbro? A hybrid combining a Dilophosaurus and T-Rex could have been epic, but they seriously messed up by using that Basher & Biters sculpt and just stick a frill on it. If you felt bad for Hasbro for loosing the JP…

The Lost World Velociraptor

The Lost World Velociraptor

This Velociraptor is a re-release of the original Velociraptor that came out as part of the Jurassic Park toy line back in the early ’90s.  Unlike the original version, The Lost World one comes with complete new capture gear and a new paint job. Just like the original version it will snap when you squeeze its legs together. When the capture gear is on, it “breaks free” by launching the muzzle forward. The colours of this Velociraptor are quite different compared to the original.  A more vibrant brown is used along with a weird blue-ish shading on its neck. The eyes stand…

The Lost World Dutch novel

This is my first copy of Michael Crichton’s The Lost World. I got it from a local bookshop when it was first released around 1995. I remember very well reading it the first time. I must have been 13 or 14 years old. It got me confused for a long time though. There another island? Malcolm Lives?? Is Sarah Harding related the Gerald Harding? But as a kid, I did like it.  I’ve re-read it on my Kindle after a long, long time past summer and wasn’t that impressed any more tbh. Back to the cover of the Dutch book.…

Jurassic Park III: Raptor Attack Playset

Jurassic Park III Raptor Attack Playset

The Raptor Attack Playset is a repaint of the Jurassic Park Command Compound gate, fences and weaponry.  It comes with 2 exclusive figures: Alan Grant and a Velociraptor.  Both are repaints from the Jurassic Park III Raptor Motorcycle Pursuit set. The Jurassic Park gate (although not featured in the Jurassic Park III movie) is this time painted, unlike the original Command Compound version. It features an aged wooden look with hints of red. The fences are painted metalic silver and not grey/blue like the original ones. Since I won’t open my boxed Jurassic Park items, I’ll show some close-ups from…

The Lost World Tombola chocolate eggs

The Lost World Tombola chocolate eggs

These eggs by Tombola released in 1997 in different countries around the world.  The package was distinctively The Lost World themed with its green tones, the T-Rex head and the black and yellow danger banner. The chocolate eggs had a surprise inside: a miniature dinosaur. There were in fact 16 different ones that could be collected, but they were not related to Jurassic Park or The Lost World. They were tacky looking and made out of soft plastic. The choice of dinosaurs was really weird as well, like Moropus (not even a dinosaur, but a mammal from the Miocene era) or Palaeoscincus…

Jurassic Park III Dino Dex

Jurassic Park III - Dino Dex

Forget about the Pokédex from the hit series Pokémon. Because back in 2001 there was the Dino Dex by Tiger/Hasbro. I never tried it, but according to the package it “contains detaled information and graphic animations on over 70 dinosaurs”.  There are 2 games:  Battle Dome in which you “go head-to-head in a fight-to-the-death against another dinosaur” and the DNA Lab which will let you create your own hybrid dinosaurs. The Dino Dex is also an organiser that lets you store name and phone numbers, notes and there’s a calculator on there as well.

Jurassic World Dino Hybrid book review

Jurassic World Dino Hybrid book

This Jurassic World Dino Hybrid book by Random House was released earlier this year. It features dinosaur cards and stickers, as well as several pages dedicated to the Hybrid Dinosaurs that were created by Dr. Wu. The cards are perforated for easy removal. All the hybrids featured in the book, have their own cards and stickers. The stickers don’t serve any purpose in the book, since there’s no background or scenery to stick them on. The design of the dinosaur hybrids were also used in the Jurassic World game by Ludia and the recently released Hybrid toy line by Hasbro.…
