Jurassic Tamagotchi are hatching again

Posted on Leave a comment

If you’re of a certain generation, you’ll remember the Tamagotchi hype from the mid 1990’s. Everyone was going crazy for the virtual pets that were created by Bandai in Japan. Soon, many other companies jumped the bandwagon and made similar toys in all shapes and kinds. The premise of a virtual pet is that you take of a virtual pet like a bird or dog that needs to be fet, entertained or played with at regular times to prevent it from “passing away”. The success of these virtual pets was so huge, that companies started releasing licensed versions, which included…

Third Jurassic Park film turns 21

Posted on Leave a comment

Jurassic Park III turned 21 on July 18 and while that’s a great excuse to look back at the (mediocre) toy line that was released by Hasbro to accompany the film’s release, there’s another major toy company that helped build anticipation for the third Jurassic film: the LEGO Group. In the early 2000’s there was no such thing as movie-inspired LEGO sets like we have now for Harry Potter, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Jurassic World and many more. With Star Wars being the only exception which had an X-Wing turned into a brick model in 1999, followed by sets…

Slowly but surely new Roar Strikers are popping up all around the world. These new species have found their way to the Jurassic Toys collection: Iguanodon All the way from Japan came the Iguanodon, one of the first dinosaurs to be identified. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf8SrSOqDuf/ Megaraptor Also straight from Japan is the Megaraptor with its bright red and grey “feathers”. https://www.instagram.com/p/CfyQ6EWLcbw/ Liopleurodon Liopleurodon is another brand new…

When you gotta go…

It’s a great time to be a Jurassic fan. Mattel, who inherited the Jurassic-licence in 2018 for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, hasn’t limited its designers to the current franchise. Dozens of dinosaurs and other toys from the latest films were produced from Acrocanthosaurus to Zuniceratops, there seems to be no stopping. While most of these toys are heavily marketed towards kids, Mattel has since 2018 servicing longtime Jurassic Park fans as well. Many dinosaurs, vehicles and action figures from the past movies found their home in the Jurassic World Legacy Collection line and on top of that, the brand new…

Mattel Creations released its latest Convention-exclusive Jurassic Park figure earlier this week. The previous years we got the limited editions of John Hammond, Dennis Nedry and Ray Arnold. In 2022, Mattel turned the iconic image of Dr. Ian Malcolm laying bare chested and wounded in the Jurassic Park control room in an exclusive toy version. He’s packed in the faux book that the character wrote after the Jurassic Park and The Lost World events. It appeared briefly as a prop in the Jurassic World control room. Relic from the past…

Last month I went for a Jurassic World Dominion toy hunt recently at a nearby toy shop. While they didn’t have that much toys from Mattel’s new toy line, I did manage to find something quite particular. Hidden behind the Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous Extreme Damage T-Rex, there was a toy figure that will make many Jurassic fans shudder by just the looks at it. Hasbro has been releasing the Jurassic toys since 1993, starting with the original Jurassic Park film through their Kenner branch which they took over in 1991. The Kenner line is still being praised today for…
