It’s a great time to be a Jurassic fan. Mattel, who inherited the Jurassic-licence in 2018 for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, hasn’t limited its designers to the current franchise. Dozens of dinosaurs and other toys from the latest films were produced from Acrocanthosaurus to Zuniceratops, there seems to be no stopping. Fanattik, a company that should ring a bell if you’re a Jurassic fan, is releasing two busts inspired by T-Rex from Jurassic Park and Blue from Jurassic World. The company is most known for their wonderful posters, keychains and expanded universe Jurassic merchandise like the golden Jurassic Park and Jurassic World tickets. Mattel Creations released its latest Convention-exclusive Jurassic Park figure earlier this week. The previous years we got the limited editions of John Hammond, Dennis Nedry and Ray Arnold. In 2022, Mattel turned the iconic image of Dr. Ian Malcolm laying bare chested and wounded in the Jurassic Park control room in an exclusive toy version. He’s packed in the faux book that the character wrote after the Jurassic Park and The Lost World events. It appeared briefly as a prop in the Jurassic World control room. Last month I went for a Jurassic World Dominion toy hunt recently at a nearby toy shop. While they didn’t have that much toys from Mattel’s new toy line, I did manage to find something quite particular. Since the release of the first Jurassic Park movie, Barbasol and the Jurassic Universe are intertwined forever. Dennis Nedry tried to smuggle dinosaur embryos in a modified Barbasol can out of the Jurassic Park laboratory. After getting a run in with a Dilophosaurus, tthere was no happy end for Nedry’s story arc. The Barbasol can disappeared under a thick layer of mud while the Spitter divoured the InGen computer programmer.
