Mattel released two story packs: Gyrosphere & Claire and Velociraptor “Blue” & Owen. Each set is packed in an open package, like most of Hasbro’s 2015 line. Claire’s Gyrosphere comes in two pieces. The back piece is located behind the cardboard where the action figure is stuck to. The Gyro can hold two Jurassic World action figures. Blue can “jump” by pushing his body down and releasing. Both the Claire and Owen action figures are posable.

Mattel Jurassic World mini dino blind bags
Posted on — Leave a commentMattel follows Hasbro’s example by releasing dinosaur blind bags. These bags contain a random plastic dinosaur from the Jurassic Park universe. Unlike Hasbro’s, Mattel’s dinosaurs have articulated parts. The Parasaurolophus, which I got in one of my blind bags, can move its head up and down. The Pteranodon has wings that are possible in different directions. A word of critique is in place for some of these dinosaurs (and some of Mattel’s larger toys). The two-legged dinosaurs have oversized feet so they can stand easily without falling over. But this makes their appearences very cartoony, almost “Land Before Time Ducky”…
Jurassic Park Triceratops (2009)
Posted on — Leave a commentHasbro re-realesed its Jurassic Park III dinosaurs once again with a new colour scheme. Of all the repainted Jurassic Park dinosaurs lines, this is probably my favourite, with the Triceratops being in my top 3 of repainted dinosaurs. The colours on this Triceratops are bright, with green and grey tones on its body. It’s head crest has an almost metallic blue colour with red/orange markings. The sound effects are identical to the ones from the original Jurassic Park III version.
Chaos Effect: Ian Malcolm
Posted on — Leave a commentOnly four human figures (or five if you include Omega T-Rex’s escape pod) were released in the Chaos Effect toy line. Ian Malcolm was one of them. This figure, just like the others, was based on a whole new sculpt. The soft, rounded edges and striking colours immediately give away it was based on an animated design. Malcolm came with a pretty cool weapon that did not need a spring to function. By pushing the green handle, the tweezers would open and close. The hatchling was that of the Omega T-Rex. It’s painted in a striking orange colour, just like…
Jurassic Park backpacks
Posted on — Leave a commentThese two 1993 Jurassic Park backpacks are too cool for school. I remember very well when I bought these in 1994 or 1995 at the Belgian seaside in a small store by the beach. They sold all kinds of old stock items and quite a lot of Jurassic Park stuff. This is were I got my big greeting cards set as well. All the stuff was quite cheap. These backpacks were less then €5.00 each…
Bootleg The Lost World figures
Posted on — Leave a commentUsually I don’t buy bootleg Jurassic Park toys, but when I found this set on eBay offered by a seller in Spain, I couldn’t help but buying it. The layout is an identical copy of the Nick Van Owen card back. A sticker mentions the toy was imported from China by a Portugees importer in Lisbon. The plastic packaging feels very cheap and flimsy, something you expect from cheap imported toys. The set comes with 4 human figures and 2 dinosaurs. The figures are (bad) miniature versions of the official Eddie Carr, Ian Malcolm, Dieter Stark and Nick Van Owen…
Jurassic Park III Canyon Tyrannosaurus Rex

Posted on — Leave a commentThese Hero Mashers by Hasbro are the latest additions to my collection. I was able to purchase these (once again) at the ‘Kruidvat’ drugstore chain here in Belgium for just 4.99 EUR each. I got 2 Velociraptors in red and grey colors, an Ankylosaurus and a Parasaurolophus. I already owned the Dimorphodon set which I purchased last year in Florida. The only reason why I bought these was because they were that cheap. I remember seeing them priced at 17.99 EUR back in 2015. I would never pay that much for this toy line that hardly has any resemblance to…
Jurassic World Matchbox wave II
Posted on — Leave a commentJurassic World Matchbox Mission Force
Posted on — Leave a commentThe Jurassic World set by Mattel’s Matchbox is part of their Mission Force line. It combines several vehicles that are repaints from their previous non-JW line. It features 2 aircraft and 3 GM & JEEP ground vehicles, which were also sold separately. I’d seen the set in stores before at priced around 20 EUR, but since they were not themed to the actual movie’s vehicles, I never bought them. But last week when I was on vacation, I found the box set at a store that was closing, so I was able to buy for less than 3,00 EUR!
