This Mattel Creations exclusive envisions a mash-up of The Lost World: Jurassic Park and pop-culture mayhem: here, the Buck T. rex breaks free when arriving in San Diego and storms Comic-Con. The Buck T. rex features glass eyes, and a posable rubber tongue for lifelike expression. He is joined by a fan figure dressed in the viral “inflatable” T. rex costume, complete with two swappable heads (male and female) and convention swag, including a miniature T. rex collectible, a Jurassic Park tote, and printed merch. A fabric banner plays on the iconic “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth” slogan, replacing “dinosaurs” by “fans”. The outer box is designed to resemble a ’90s television, and the inner box doubles as a diorama of the San Diego Convention Center. The set was only retailed on the Mattel Creations website and sold out in minutes.
