One of the Jurassic World wave 3 toys is the repainted T-Rex. On the promotional artwork released by Hasbro, the Rex sported an almost fluorescent green color. It quickly gained the nickname Mountain Dew Rex. However in reality, the green isn’t as bright at all. It comes close to the paint job on the wave 1 Stegoceratops. I got my “Mountain Dew” Rex along with a whole bunch of other wave 3 Jurassic World toys during my Orlando trip in January of this year. So far none of these have been spotted in retail stores here in Europe.

Jurassic Park Dinosaurs: Triceratops and Velociraptor
Posted on — 1 CommentMy latest eBay purchases are these two: Triceratops and Velociraptor from the 1999 Jurassic Park: Dinosaurs line. I got them from 2 separate auctions and probably overpaid slightly, but you don’t find them MOC that often any more. These are actually my first MOC JP: Dinosaurs, because at that time I decided to invest in the older Jurassic Park toys that were never released here in Belgium, like the Gallimimus, Capture Cruiser and Utahraptor. The Velociraptor is with its English-only packaging clearly part of the Walmart / Universal Studios release. The Triceratops packaging however is slightly different and indicates this…
The Lost World: Electronic Velociraptor
Posted on — 1 CommentThe electronic Velociraptor from the The Lost World: Jurassic Park was released in selected countries along with the electronic Parasaurolophus. In my opinion this is one weird looking Velociraptor. Almost everything about it is out of proportion. It’s legs are too short, the arms are too long and it’s body is way too big. The colours are completely off as well. The electronic sound is triggered by pulling the body backwards, which will also make the head snap forward and make, beside the growl, a weird clicking sound (kinda similar to the Jurassic Park series 2 Baryonyx, but that doesn’t bother…
Jurassic World blind bags
Posted on — Leave a commentEarlier today I found the Hasbro Jurassic World blind bags at Toy Champ, a popular toy store chain in Belgium and the Netherlands. They had two boxes with blind bags and are 2,99 EUR each. The idea is kinda similar to the LEGO Mini Figures blind bags (they’re even the same price here), you don’t know what you’ll get. I got 12 bags in total and was allowed to take the box home as well The box and the bags feature some really nice artwork, which is rare with Hasbro’s 2015 toy line. The dinosaurs are made of very cheap plastic…
Jurassic World T-Rex Lockdown
Posted on — 1 CommentT-Rex Lockdown is a playset featuring the Jurassic World gate and a Tyrannosaurus Rex figure. The set is clearly inspired by the Jurassic Park III Raptor Attack set, which in return re-used the accessoires of the Jurassic Park Command Compound from 1993. Although the Jurassic World set looks similar, it was produced from a whole new mould. The outerbox features really great and exciting artwork, reminiscing the hay-days of Kenner packaging. There’s a slight difference between the USA and European box, the latter is way more sturdier compared to the flimsy USA version. The set comes with the Jurassic World gate (which…
Jurassic World Ceratosaurus
Posted on — Leave a commentCeratosaurus is part of the Jurassic World wave 2 line. Although this dinosaur didn’t appear in Jurassic World, it had a small cameo in Jurassic Park III. There are some design elements and colours that are very similar to the Jurassic Park III version of this dinosaur. Many fans consider this Hasbro’s best effort and I kinda agree. It is a very cool looking toy, but it certainly has a few flaws. The head sculpt looks really good, but the teeth are a big failure. It looks like a grandmother who isn’t wearing her dentures. By pushing down the tail,…
Jurassic World Dilophosaurus
Posted on — Leave a commentDilophosaurus is one of my favorite Jurassic Park characters. I see her as the Boba Fett of the Jurassic Park Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately she only appeared in the first movie and had a small cameo in Jurassic World. But that didn’t stop Hasbro from producing different toys based on Dilophosaurus since 1993. Thanks to that small cameo, Hasbro went ahead with a whole new sculpt for their Growlers line. The paint job is definitely way too pale for my taste. It doesn’t represent the original colors as seen in the first movie. The Jurassic Park III toy version of Dilophosaurus…
Dino Showdown Pachyrhinosaurus Clash
Posted on — Leave a commentLook what recently came in the mail! Finally got my first set from the 2013 “Dino Showdown” line. First thing I noticed was how big it actually is, I expected it would be much smaller. It’s definately bigger than the Biters & Bashers dinosaurs from the Jurassic World line and also looks better. The paint job and details pull off what the JW line is lacking. The action figure called “Gunner Gordan” is not part of the Jurassic Park cinematic universe but looks really good with lots of painted details. Appearently Hasbro used the sculpt of an unreleased G.I. Joe…
Jurassic Park Dinosaurs: Pteranodon
Posted on — Leave a commentThis Pteranodon is part of the Jurassic Park: Dinosaurs toy line from 1999. In fact it’s one of the few I own from that line and it’s not even in its package (I’m a vivid “mint in box” collector). It came with a big lot I purchased years ago. So obviously the big Pteranodon is a repaint of the Jurassic Park series I version. It sports a weird dark brownish with green and creepy bright white eyes. The inside of the left wing features the JP logo (if it’s not Jurassic Park, it’s extinct). The Pteranodon functions are identical to its 1993…
