Jurassic Park fans know that Barbasol has a strong association with the brand. It was one of their cans after all that was used to smuggle the dinosaur embryos of the island in the first Jurassic Park film.  Now 25 years later, they’re once again attached to the franchise.  For the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Barbasol is releasing cans with images from the 2018 blockbuster. They surprised me with (empty) cans of their Sensitive Skin shaving foam with the Indoraptor image and the Soothing Aloe with Blue’s image. Check out these two awesome items by Joy Toy, a European company that produces all kinds of licensed products.  The LED nightlight features the stressed T-Rex skeleton from the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom logo. Mattel’s Jurassic World: Legacy Collection line features all kinds of action figures, dinosaurs and vehicles from the first three Jurassic Park films.  The Extreme Chompin’ Spinosaurus is the latest toy in this line, and probably even the best so far.  This is a pretty large dinosaur, and very much in scale with Mattel’s Legacy Tyrannosaurus Rex. Jurassic-themed board games are hot. Ravensburger released  one in the United States a few months ago. Mondo Games is releasing one later this year. But these are all Jurassic Park themed. Mattel isn’t shying away from bringing some off-screen dinosaurs back to life.  Suchomimus was not featured in any of the films or the books, but was briefly mentioned in Jurassic Park III by Billy Brennan when he was trying to identify the Spinosaurus. An image of Mattel’s version appeared online along with the photos of the other Action Attack dinosaurs, Stegosaurus and Carnotaurus. They tried to set things right when they released their Owen “Alpha” and Velociraptor “Blue” set, but that figure lacked character. Jurassic World Story Packs

Mattel released two story packs: Gyrosphere & Claire and Velociraptor “Blue” & Owen.  Each set is packed in an open package, like most of Hasbro’s 2015 line. Claire’s Gyrosphere comes in two pieces.  The back piece is located behind the cardboard where the action figure is stuck to.  The Gyro can hold two Jurassic World action figures. Blue can “jump” by pushing his body down and releasing. Both the Claire and Owen action figures are posable.

Mattel Jurassic World blind bags

Mattel follows Hasbro’s example by releasing dinosaur blind bags.  These bags contain a random plastic dinosaur from the Jurassic Park universe.  Unlike Hasbro’s, Mattel’s dinosaurs have articulated parts. The Parasaurolophus, which I got in one of my blind bags, can move its head up and down. The Pteranodon has wings that are possible in different directions. A word of critique is in place for some of these dinosaurs (and some of Mattel’s larger toys). The two-legged dinosaurs have oversized feet so they can stand easily without falling over. But this makes their appearences very cartoony, almost “Land Before Time Ducky”…

Jurassic Park Triceratops (2009)

Hasbro re-realesed its Jurassic Park III dinosaurs once again with a new colour scheme.  Of all the repainted Jurassic Park dinosaurs lines, this is probably my favourite, with the Triceratops being in my top 3 of repainted dinosaurs. The colours on this Triceratops are bright, with green and grey tones on its body. It’s head crest has an almost metallic blue colour with red/orange markings. The sound effects are identical to the ones from the original Jurassic Park III version.
