In 1993, alongside the theatrical release of Jurassic Park, Total gas stations in France and Belgium distributed a series of four illustrated children’s books. Each volume focused on one or more dinosaurs from the film, combining educational content with colorful visuals inspired by the movie’s aesthetic. The complete set includes La Grande Aventure (1/4), Tyrannosaurus Rex et Brachiosaurus (2/4), Tricératops et Dilophosaurus (3/4), and Gallimimus et Vélociraptor (4/4). These softcover books were available through fuel promotions, a common practice in te 1990s.
In Canada, Petro-Canada released a more extensive version of this concept, offering eight hardcover illustrated books, each dedicated to a single dinosaur species. Available in both English and French, this bilingual series expanded on the educational approach with more focused content per volume. Like the Total editions, these books were availabe exclusively through gas stations as part of a limited-time promotion tied to the film’s release.
